Many thanks to all those who travelled on our Santa Specials. Santa has now left Brechin to travel back to the North Pole to get ready for his deliveries this evening. We look forward to seeing all our loyal customers in 2006!

The First weekend of our Santa Specials went very well, with Sunday being the busiest day of the two. We are open for the Santa Specials for the next two weekends on the 17th 18th and 24th of December. Booking is Advisable but there are seats for people who turn up on the day (to be certain of a seat please arrive around 30 minutes before departure time).
Brechin Station Shop had a successful weekend, the shop is stocked with a wide range of Christmas Gifts including, specialised money boxes

The Permanent Way department have finished their relay of part of the old Caley section, and it is now ballasted in.
The Train set for next weekends Santa Specials has been formed at Bridge of Dun. Also the Coach department have been busy decorating and cleaning the Coaches for the weekends running.

Today saw the first day of the Station Shop at Brechin being opened in the run up to Christmas. Starting Today 5th of November our shop will be open for the sale of all the usual Thomas lines plus new lines including Slippers and China Money Boxes, our usual range of home baked biscuits and specialist chocolates will be on sale. The shop will be open each Saturday and Sunday in the run up to Christmas.

Last weekend say the P-Way department starting off their relay of the 'caley' section.
The Diesel Group have been doing preparation work on the radiator compartment of the 25 25083. The group have also received pre-cut baffles that will be welded into the radiator tanks.

The P-Way department have finished the refurbishment of their track panels and are now ready to lay them down again, thus closing the gap in the running line.

The P-Way department are nearly finished their 14 panel refurbishment early. it is hoped to get these panels ready to be laid next weekend and then spend time ballasting and packing
The Diesel group have recently overhauled their website after transferring to a new host company without any adverts. www.crdg.co.uk. The diesel group have also finished the track work in the former Nairn Goods Shed. This will allow one type two to be stored inside out of the elements whilst under restoration. The first Locomotive to enter the shed was 25083 which is currently waiting the manufacture, in our own workshops, of its new stainless steel radiator tanks and some other bits and pieces until it is available for service.

320 brand new sleepers were delivered to the railway last Saturday just in time for the refurbishment of 14 'Caley' Track panels.
Santa and his helpers have been busy wrapping presents for our forthcoming Santa Specials on the 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th and 24th of December, click here for details.

Last weekend saw the Permanent Way Department out in force lifting some of the railways old 'original' Caledonian Railway Trackwork laid in 1906. These panels were lifted from the section between Arrat Crossing and Windyedge just past the Arrat culvert. This track will be taken down to the 'lay down' area at Bridge of Dun and will be refurbished with brand new sleepers and the old 'caley' chairs replaced with newer S1As.
Coach SC34539 has been taken to Brechin station for member Derek Hamilton to work on. The coach will get fully lined out. A disabled compartment created in the old luggage compartment and this area will be fully carpeted with seating together with space for wheelchairs and a ramp for access from the platform for our Disabled Passengers.

Sorry about the lack of updates recently but this is due to the previous webmaster finding employment south of the border.
Today brings to an end a very successful 2005 Summer Season. Passenger figures were up again, and once again, thousands of happy visitors flocked to see Thomas the Tank.
We, the staff of the Caledonian Railway would like to thank all of the visitors who helped make this season one of our best ever.
