Brechin Railway Preservation Society
Membership Application

The Brechin Railway Preservation Society was formed in 1979 by a group of local enthusiasts when the Kinnaber - Brechin freight line was still in use by BR for freight traffic. It was felt that the four mile section between Brechin and Bridge of Dun had all the makings of a classic preserved railway which, after thirteen years of hard work, proved to be right.

The members of the society are drawn from all walks of life, tradesmen, council workers, public service workers, professionals, students, and of course BR employees. All working on a voluntary basis for the good of the Caledonian Railway.

'Armchair members' also play a vital part in the society. Being a member does not mean that you have to come down and get your hands dirty - members can support their favourite railway from home, keeping in touch with Brechin happenings through the BRPS newsletter, published quarterly. BRPS members also receive half-price travel on the Caledonian Railway at most times.

The society organises  a number of social events for the members during the year. Recent events have included visits to Aberdeen power signal box, and a bus tour of closed railways in the area using a vintage bus provided by our friends in the Angus Transport Group. The society also organises a popular annual Christmas meal and slideshow.
