Most successful Santa season ever!
We are pleased to announce that the 2002 Santa Specials were the most successful ever, with over 2000 passengers carried over four days. By the last weekend, six coach trains were the order of the day, with banking assistance required up the gradient from Bridge of Dun using a class 26 diesel.
Despite a price increase this year to allow for the purchase of higher-quality presents, not a word of compliant was heard. Special thanks must go to Mrs Ena Wilkie (pictured as alter-ego "Mrs Santa" below) for her efforts. Ena is in charge of publicity, telephone and postal bookings, seat reservations, present wrapping and Mrs Santa-ing! Passenger numbers are reckoned to be around 15% up on 2001, (itself a record year) despite less advertising in 2003. We must be doing something right if most publicity is word-of-mouth!
