Peckett 2153 was built in 1954 for the Birchenwood Gas and Coke works, leaving the factory on 4th August 1954. She is a class OX4, with 16 inch cylinders and a wheel diameter of 3 foot 10 inches. She spent her entire industrial career at Birchenwood, numbered as their 'number 5', and carried out her last working there on 19th May 1973. The following September she moved into preservation at the Steamport Southport museum, where she is seen in the above photograph.

Following the closure of Steamport, she was moved to the East Lancashire Railway at Bury and dismantled for overhaul. Circumstances changed and the projected overhaul did not happen, so she was sold in 2000 to Steve Pegg, the Caledonian Railway's Engineering Director.
