12/04/2004 A successful Easter weekend, with takings up around 32% on 2003. Brian Douglas, a visitor from Northern England, was taking photos at the lineside on Easter Saturday. He came back on Sunday with a CD full of the pictures:-

Left; Harlaxton begins a smoky
climb up the bank, and on the right she is seen running round at Bridge of Dun.
An attractive scene at Kincraig,
with Harlaxton heading a smart set of Maroon mark 1 coaches.

Shop manager Derek has introduced some new lines to the gift shop. Visit at Easter and see his wares! Click here for the shop page.

A new shape on the skyline at Bridge of Dun. On the left, Nairn goods shed can
be seen in the background. On the right a view of the shed from the spare bedroom of
your webmaster's house, showing the fine grandstand views on offer!
Click here for another goods shed photo.

Far left, new track as far as the
eye can see! The pway gang have once again completed another marathon track
relay, seen here at Arrat Crossing. There is still final lifting and packing to
be carried out.
Left; the coach department have sanded Mark 2 BFK "Gladys" down for a repaint.
Gladys is our much-admired disabled persons saloon, and will be back in service
for the summer season.
22/03/2004 Volunteer Graeme Muir has set up a fotopic website, showing some interesting pictures taken around the railway. Diesel Group volunteer Jed Scott also has a website which is updated frequently, although it contains some dubious railway humour!

Gearing up for the new season: Below middle, new shop manager Derek takes a
break from deciding where to place his new display units, and the right-hand
picture shows Peckett #2084 in platform 1 at Brechin undergoing running in,
towed by the class 11 shunter. On the left another view inside Brechin engine shed with Class 25
#25083 nearing completion. The diesel group hope to have it running for the May
diesel gala - more information on their website.
The little blue Barclay, nearest camera, has been stripped pending its annual
boiler inspection. Lots of progress is being made with Nairn Goods shed -

15/03/2004 Lots happening over the last couple of weeks. At Arrat, the track has begun to be re-laid following completion of the refurbishment of the track panels. The coach gang have been fitting new doors and sanding down Mark 2 BFK "Gladys" ready for a repaint, and in Brechin shed Peckett #2084 is back on its wheels and has already undergone some running in tests, towed as far as Leuchland and back behind the class 11 diesel shunter.

Left: In the gloom of Brechin engine shed, you can just make out the three working steam locos; Barclay 0-4-0 closest camera, then 'Harlaxton', and Peckett 2084 at the back. The cab in the foreground belongs to Peckett 1376, from whose saddletank this picture was taken. Immediately left is a poor quality (I blame the camera) picture of the Peckett back on the rails again.
